Miad Conferences for Focused Learning – Could Your Trust Benefit?

Miad Conferences for Focused Learning – Could Your Trust Benefit?

What makes a great place to learn? In our experience, an ideal learning environment provides a safe space to share thoughts and ask questions with inspiring facilitators and active participation from learners. It’s not easy for busy clinicians to create the time and space for this type of learning, but that’s exactly what we wanted to achieve at Miad Healthcare’s recent event for Revalidation Managers and Appraisal Leads.

For over 80 professionals from NHS Trusts and private organisations, the virtual event brought together industry experts and clinicians for an intense agenda that packed seven 30-minute sessions into a day-long conference with ample opportunity for reflection and discussion.

About the event

The day began with an update from the GMC on the role and responsibilities of the RO and the RO’s team. It was followed by sessions delivered by clinicians and Miad’s professional facilitators, which built professional knowledge and personal development. To help delegates embed their learning, five supporting e-learning modules were provided for preparation and follow-up activity.

We asked Miad facilitator Julie Thomson to share her reflections on the event.

This event, and the level of participation from all who attended, was fantastic. One of the biggest benefits was the combination of being able to listen to high-level speakers in a large group and then breaking out into smaller groups of eight or 10 to discuss what you heard to talk about applying it to the role that you’re in.”

“Delegates could listen, learn and find out what’s new and also work with peers from both large trusts and smaller organisations to talk through what they’re experiencing. That pooling of knowledge and depth of perspectives across the remit of revalidation and appraisal was extremely valuable.”

“The environment created at this event was very inclusive and delegates were happy to feed back key points from their breakout discussions and the chat function was alive with recommendations, and answers to one another’s questions, it was brilliant. The delegates left feeling confident having heard from the GMC and others about what’s coming down the track, then calibrating their thinking with others. The breadth of discussion that was covered in such a short space of time made it unique.”

Why consider a training event for 2024?

Miad Healthcare is already supporting several Trusts and organisations to provide training events in 2024. Why consider it as part of your training and development plan?

  • The opportunity to hear from industry bodies and experts and work with peers facing the same challenges.
  • An agenda that blends knowledge and skills for a job role with personal leadership development.
  • An intense learning experience spanning an entire specialty or area of regulation in one day.
  • Breakout groups, sharing, and benchmarking opportunities in a safe space.
  • E-learning modules so delegates come prepared and leave with follow-up exercises.
  • The option of virtual or face-to-face allows for flexibility depending on accessibility, travel, and budget requirements.

“Thank you to everyone involved in today, I really appreciate all the time, effort and energy which goes into making these days successful.  The whole day was impeccable in terms of IT, timings, communication, professionalism and that does not happen by accident.  Thank you so much for putting on this event it is great to have some training aimed at and for revalidation support roles.”
