Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism

About the role

Miad Healthcare is looking for skilled facilitators to deliver the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to health and care staff.

You will lead and co-deliver engaging, standardised training that helps the workforce improve how they support people with a learning disability and autistic people. Delivery will include a mix of virtual sessions, eLearning elements and face-to-face training.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary training team, alongside Experts with Lived Experience.

Travel across the region may be required. Preparation time, induction and ongoing development support will be provided.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Facilitate high-quality, interactive training sessions.
  • Work in partnership with Experts with Lived Experience to co-deliver content.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment.
  • Adapt delivery style while maintaining fidelity to the national package.
  • Manage group discussions, questions and differing viewpoints.
  • Ensure sessions run to time and learning outcomes are achieved.
  • Support learners before, during and after training.
  • Contribute to course preparation, administration and reporting.
  • Promote equality, reasonable adjustments and person-centred practice.

Essential requirements

  • Experience of delivering training or facilitating groups.
  • Confidence presenting to multidisciplinary audiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a co-facilitation model.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of learning disability and autism.
  • Experience delivering training within health or social care.
  • Familiarity with virtual delivery platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
  • Experience contributing to evaluation or service improvement.
